Proper Wine Storage
There are many guidelines for storing wine properly. Wine bottles should be stored on their side and at about a 70% humidity level to keep corks from becoming dry. Wine stored at a steady temperature between 10 – 12ºC (50 – 55ºF) is best as higher temperatures speed up the aging process and does not create wines as complex, which are typically aged for longer times at lower temperatures.
Wine should be kept in the dark to be protected from harmful UV lights that can infiltrate the wine and cause unwanted flavors. Sound vibrations and vibration in general is also an enemy of aging wine gracefully.
