Tulum

Tulum, in south-central San Juan, produces the most red and white wines in Argentina’s San Juan province. Like in all of San Juan, rainfall is very negligible.  Tulum and its immediate surrounding areas rely on the Quebrada de Ullum (Ullum Reservoir)—a 32-kilometer-squared (12.4 miles squared) dam in the Rio San Juan (San Juan River)—for irrigation.  Tulum has an altitude of 600 meters (1,970 feet) and notable varietals include Syrah and Torrontes. Wineries in Tulum include Bodega Merced del Estero, Casa Montes, Finca Morera, and Vinas del Plata.
