Cafayate

The most famous region located in southern Salta, Cafayate, has altitudes averaging at 1,700 meters (5,580 feet) above sea level, sees 330 sunny days a year, and is situated in the delta of the Rio Calchaqui (Calchaqui River) and the Rio Santa Maria (Saint Maria River).  The valley has dry and mild weather with minimum humidity. Cafayate is known especially for its Torrontes wine. Wineries in Cafayate include Bodega Domingo Hermanos, Bodega Etchart, Finca las Nubes, and Vasija Secreta. The Anuva Winery Carinae makes its Torrontes in Salta’s Cafayate Valley (see Anuva Wineries section). More minor regions include the Valles Calchaquies (Calchaqui Valleys) and Molinos.
