San Luis Province

San Luis Province is hardly visited as many tourists skip over the region, going from popular Cordoba to even more popular Mendoza.  The capital of San Luis Province is San Luis, though it is hardly a bustling capital city. Filled with small villages (a few still having only dirt roads), San Luis Province teems with authentic Argentinean culture. Some villages boast attractions such as the thermal baths in Balde. Day trips from San Luis city and can be arranged on site.

Spanish settlers founded San Luis in 1594. In 1776, Cordoba Province took over San Luis Province and it was not until 1820 when San Luis declared independence. Much of San Luis’ economy relies on industry (including the production of textiles, paper, and home appliances), agriculture (mainly corn), and mining (mainly limestone).
