Italian Influence
Due to Argentina’s Italian influence, many Argentineans say chau (from the Italian ciao) instead of adios to say “good-bye.” Much of the lunfardo comes from Italian. For example, the word fiaca is similar to fiacco, which means “weak” in Italian.
